Nancy and Stuart’s Blue Bean Photography Experience
Some newborn photography sessions are sweet, some are stylish. And every now and then, one comes with a backstory involving ChatGBT, TikTok, country and western music, and a baby who absolutely did not choose this life but is clearly destined for it.
We caught up with Nancy and Stuart to talk about their newborn photography session with Blue Bean Photography , and honestly, this one felt like it was fate.
Q. How did you find Blue Bean Photography?
Nancy: We found Blue Bean Photography by searching for newborn photography on ChatGBT. We wanted someone experienced, local to Derby, and known for newborn work rather than general family photography. Blue Bean kept coming up, so we started looking properly.
Stuart: Straight away you could see this was a specialist newborn photographer. The years of experience, the awards, and the focus on safety really stood out, but in all honesty I saw a photo of a baby posed inside of a cowboy hat...and we were convinced from then!
Q. When did the penny drop about who Victoria was?
Nancy: That moment still cracks us up. We realised it was Victoria and went, wait… we know you. We’ve followed her on TikTok for years through the country and western online community. Music, festivals, the whole vibe. We genuinely had no idea that newborn photography was her career.
Stuart: It felt like discovering one of your favourite online creators is also secretly amazing at something completely else.
Q. Had you met before the newborn session?
Nancy: Yes, and this is where it gets ridiculous. We’d crossed paths briefly at The Long Road Festival in Leicestershire last year when Victoria commented on my red Cowboy boots and admitted stalking me in the food queue to ask me where I had bought them. Pure coincidence. No clue at the time that we’d end up back together for newborn photos. We even joked that we would see each other again at C2C (Country 2 Country Festival) because we'd both be wearing the same red boots!
Stuart: Probably should have talked photography instead of queuing for food, to be honest.
Q. How important was it to include your lifestyle in the newborn photography session?
Nancy: That was huge for us. Our lifestyle is part of who we are, and we didn’t want a session that felt generic. We wanted something that felt like us. Victoria completely understood that. The styling, the colours, the feel of the images. It all quietly reflected our country and western lifestyle without turning it into a costume, or it feeling like a half hearted fad.
Stuart: It felt authentic, not staged. That mattered to us and Victoria did not disappoint.
Q. Let’s talk about Buster. Because what a name.
Nancy: Buster has absolutely no choice now. With that name and us as parents, he’s joining the Country music community whether he likes it or not.
Stuart: We like to think the photos are his official induction. The way Victoria worked with Buster was incredible. Calm, patient, totally baby led. He ran the session, of course as newborns do, and she just rolled with it, he was a fuss pot towards the end of the photo shoot, but Victoria said she could work her magic in the editing process and create the final result we wanted, we didn't have to worry as the final images are beyond what we would gave imagined.
Q. What was the newborn photography session like overall?
Nancy: Relaxed, warm, and genuinely enjoyable. You don’t feel rushed or awkward, we booked in for a full newborn photo shoot as we knew that some of what we were requesting may take time to setup. The studio cabin feels comfortable and peaceful, which makes a massive difference when you’re brand new parents.
Stuart: It felt more like going to a friends house for a chat and catchup than being photographed, even Victorias husband Sean made an appearance to show me his big Ford truck ready for festival season, which meant we could leave the ladies in peace to finish the photo session.
Q. How do you feel about your finished newborn images?
Nancy: We love them. They feel timeless but personal. You can see our lifestyle in them without it overpowering the fact that this is about our baby.
Stuart: They already feel like family heirlooms, we mounted copies of our favourites to give to grandparents for Christmas and my mum was in pieces over the suede boot image, she just couldn't Believe we got Buster to pose next to my boots. (Thanks for cleaning them up Victoria!)
Q. Would you recommend Blue Bean Photography to other parents in Derbyshire and Leicestershire?
Nancy: Absolutely 100%. If you’re searching for newborn photography in the East Midlands, Victorias studio this is where you want to be. I'm not just saying that because we had a slight connection to Victoria, taking that away we wouldn't have hesitated to book in anyway.
Stuart: Especially if you want something meaningful, a little different and shot with care.
A Final Word from Victoria @ Blue Bean Photography
This session was about more than newborn photography. It was about weaving a family’s lifestyle, their personality, and story into images that will last a lifetime.
Nancy and Stuart trusted me to reflect who they are, and little Buster, whether he knows it yet or not, is already part of a Country Music community full of music, connection, and character.
If you’re looking for award winning newborn photography in the East Midlands and you want your story told properly, we’d love to do that for you.
